On 10 June 2023, the first of 150 free bikes were distributed to staff at Basildon Hospital through the Essex Pedal Power partnership project - delivered by The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS), supported by Essex County Council, Active Essex, Sport England and Basildon Borough Council.
In the news: New location for Wickford Market to be secured
Wickford Market has been operating on the pedestrianised high street each Saturday since May 2021, with a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order that kept the high street car-free. It was hoped that this would become the permanent home following a formal consultation with local traders, residents and local bus companies.

As part of Basildon Council's Safe and Sound Estates Programme, Basildon Council has installed new CCTV cameras across targeted borough estates. This comes after £22,000 was secured in partnership with local community groups earlier this year.
