My right to access my personal data
Basildon Council collects information on its citizen and all other people who communicate with us as part of the normal course of delivering our services. Under Data Protection, you have a right to request a copy of your personal information.
- We manage the information we hold about you properly and legally in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and our Privacy Notice.

You will need to give us the below information at the time of asking for this service:
- your name, address and contact details
- proof of identification and address
- a detailed description of the personal information that you want a copy of
This request is known as a Subject Access Request. Once we receive your request, we will:
- acknowledge your request within three working days
- review the request to make sure we can release the data
- provide you with your data within one month
- inform you if the request will take longer than one month to complete

You will still need to send us proof of identity if we fill this out for you, so that we can verify and process the request.
