In the news: Basildon Council awarded funding for improvements to digital planning services
Basildon Council has been awarded £185,000 from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to modernise and improve how residents access the council's planning services online.
The funding is made up of £100,000 from the Digital Planning Improvement Fund and £85,000 from the PropTech Innovation Fund.
The Digital Planning Improvement Fund provides local planning authorities with the support to adopt modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software.
The Prop Tech Innovation Fund aims to support the widespread adoption of digital citizen engagement tools and transform community involvement in planning.
This funding will see improvements to the digitisation of Basildon Council's planning system, providing new and improved opportunities for communities to engage in planning
conversations, while increasing collaboration between involved Stakeholders. The funding will also support us to modernise our service, improving our planning data and software.
Councillor Richard Moore, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, Infrastructure and Planning Enforcement welcomed the news "Thanks to the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities for this significant investment into our Planning service. The funding will improve the way we engage with communities and stakeholders, as well as helping us adopt modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software."
