In the news: Works are underway at the brand new East Square Complex ahead of opening at the end of the year

Empire Cinemas are committed to opening the new cinema in Basildon town centre but building the very best movie-going experience is a huge undertaking, involving partners all over the world.

The new cinema will have luxurious seating, crystal clear sound systems and the latest digital projection technology. However, unavoidable construction delays mean that the cinema will not open until the end of the year.

As part of the brand new East Square development, the exciting Kaspa's Desserts will open this month offering the town centre a huge selection of hot and cold desserts, including ice creams, waffles, crepes, milkshakes and more. Nando's will follow soon after, offering a range of per-peri chicken, salads and wraps, along with a range of sides and extras.

On Friday 30 September Basildon Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor Craig Rimmer, visited the brand new Empire Cinema in Basildon Town Centre as works progress for opening at the end of the year.

Councillor Craig Rimmer, Basildon Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration said "It was fantastic to visit the brand new East Square complex last week and see just how far it has progressed, the cinema experience has been exceeded here in Basildon. The cinema truly offers something for everyone, from the largest cinema screen in Essex to the gaming room and birthday party room.

"In addition to what the cinema has to offer, the complex will bring Basildon town centre to life and provide a variety of permanent jobs to local people. I am excited to visit our new local cinema when it opens at the end of the year and completely understand the frustration of delays within the cinema industry."

Empire Cinemas will share further updates closer to opening and look forward to welcoming over 60 people that will join the Empire team in Basildon.
