'Sustainable Transport' pledges... and why?

Get active and enjoy the outdoors. Walking and cycling improves your fitness, helps to make you happier and is low cost.

Reducing the number of car journeys not only reduces carbon emissions, but it also reduces congestion and air pollution making the borough a healthier and more pleasant place to live.

Make a pledge to walk, cycle or use public transport on my journey to work at least once a week - Walking or cycling to work for just one day a week will help to improve your fitness, and make a postive impact on air pollution. It may end up feeling like a nice change once you're into it too!

Make a pledge to walk, cycle or take public transport when popping to the shops - If only going out to get a few items, walking to the shops will improve your fitness and allow you to experience all the benefits that spending time in the outdoors can bring.

Make a pledge to look into cycle to work schemes with my employer -  This is an effective way to both save money on your travel costs, and get a great bike for a discounted price. With the scheme, you are likely to save up to 25-39% and you can also spread the cost over monthly payments.

Make a pledge to share your journey with a friend/colleague who's doing a similar trip (carpooling) - Saving you money in travel and fuel costs, plus reducing the amount of carbon emissions going into the air.
