Licensing - Applications to vary a club premises certificate
This section deals with applications for a minor variation to a club premises certificate and applications for a variation to club premises certificate which could affect the licensing objectives.
Applications for minor variation to a club premises certificate
You will need to submit a minor variation application if you want to make minor changes to your club premises certificate which will not affect the licensing objectives.
If you want to extend the hours that you sell alcohol, you will need to submit a Full variation application, see below.
The forms to make an application for a minor variation to a club premises certificate are only available from the GOV.UK website which gives guidance on the application procedure including payment of application fees.

PLEASE NOTE:
- There is an application fee of £89.00 payable when the application is submitted
- If we do not grant the variations to the licence, we will not refund your fee
- Separate to submitting their premises application forms, applicants MUST remember to advertise their premises application in the local press and on their premises as explained in our guidance notes, see Advertising an application for a premises licence (PDF, 87 KB)(opens new window).
Once we receive your application we will:
- Acknowledge it within three working days
- Hold a consultation for 10 days, allowing for representations
If we receive any representations, we will take the application to the Licensing Act 2003 Sub-Committee for councillors to consider. We will then notify you of their decision.
The advantage of online applications
If you complete the whole application process online from the GOV.UK website. This will include:
- submission of your application form
- payment of application fees
- Notification of your application to all responsible authorities, as required by the licensing regulations

If you prefer to submit a postal application you can send your completed application form, along with the additional information needed to:

Applications for full variation to a club premises certificate
You will need to submit a full variation application if:
- you want to make changes to your licence which could affect the licensing objectives
- you want to extend the hours that you sell alcohol
The forms to make an application for a full variation to a club premises certificate are only available from the GOV.UK website which gives guidance on the application procedure including payment of application fees.

- There is an application fee payable when the application is submitted. The fee depends on the rateable value of your premises. More information can be found in the Council's Fees and charges 2018-2019 (PDF, 510 KB) (page 79).
