Licensing - Applications for a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS)
A licensed premises which sells or supplies alcohol must appoint a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) who possesses a valid Personal Licence.
There can only be one Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) at a premises. The Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) does not need to be on the premises at all times however, the DPS will be held responsible for anything that happens at the premises.
Please note: There is no such thing as an 'new' application to be a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS). This is because the initial appointment of a DPS at any premises is included within the premises licence application process.
Applications to vary a Designated Premises Supervisor
If your DPS stops working at your premises or their personal licence is suspended, you need to specify a new DPS by submitting an application to vary a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).
Applications for a Designated Premises Supervisor exemption
You can apply for the need for a DPS to be dis-applied, making your premises exempt from the need to appoint a DPS, in which case a committee or management board must assume all responsibilities.
Request to be removed as Designated Premises Supervisor
If you no longer want to be a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS), you need to give formal notice to us and to the premises licence holder.
