Basildon Council maintains three cemeteries:
The Council offers the following range of burial plots for sale:
Most often when a death occurs, the funeral director will help make the necessary arrangements for buying a burial plot, but some people prefer to make their own arrangements to buy a grave at the time of the funeral.
This can be organised by contacting our Cemeteries Officer who will happy advise.
Burial plots can only be bought after death has occurred. Basildon Borough Council does not allow pre-purchasing of graves.
The Exclusive right of burial is sold for 100 years, these are known as purchased graves.
Burials can take place on any weekday, except on bank holidays. Please talk to your funeral director or contact us to discuss any specific requirements.
Terms and conditions allow the owner of the burial plot to construct a full headstone and kerb set after burial has taken place, along with a small 'garden ' area in front of the headstone. All memorials of this type must be built on a concrete base or landing.
Please see the regulations for further advice.
