Today is St. George's Day and Basildon Council is wishing all its residents and visitors to the borough a Happy St. George's Day.
Leader of Basildon Council, Cllr Gavin Callaghan, said: "Today we celebrate the patron saint of England, and it is a day to recognise our shared history, culture and community spirit.
"As always, we are flying both the Union and St. George's flag over the Basildon Centre. So, whether you're flying the flag, enjoying traditional food, or spending time with loved ones, we hope you are having a wonderful St. George's Day."
St. George's Day is celebrated annually on 23 April, recognised as England's national day to mark the death of the Patron Saint of England, who is thought to have died around AD 303.
