Basildon Council has delivered on its promise to deliver homes for local people on its housing waiting list.

Leader of the council was at the opening of 48 new properties at Burnt mills Road list to see residents move into their new homes.

Homes on the site are comprised of two three-Storey blocks, with 15 flats in Block A and 33 flats in Block B. All flats are being social rent through the council's Housing Revenue Account.  Twenty are 1-bedroom flats and 23 are 2-bedroom flats. Three ground floor units have wet rooms for applicants assessed as needing this type of bathing facility, disabled tenants and the blocks are fitted with sprinkler systems, video intercom system and electric vehicle charging points.

Cllr Gavin Callaghan, Leader of Basildon Council, said:" I gave my word that we will do our utmost to make sure every Basildon resident has a place to call home, and I must deliver on that promise. These homes are available to local people.

"Just this week, I announced 96 new homes that Basildon locals have moved into. We are not just talking the talk; we are doing what we said we will do. I am determined to change people's lives for the good and that is exactly what we are doing and keeping Basildon money in the borough for residents."
