In the News: New enforcement officers to patrol Basildon estates and town centres
Basildon Council has appointed new Safer Communities Enforcement officers to patrol local estates and town centres, ensuring compliance with the council's Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO).
The officers will be easily identifiable in their distinctive uniforms and vehicles, enhancing their visibility and effectiveness. They will work closely with police, estates teams, and community safety and anti-social behaviour officers to reassure the public and promote a sense of safety in the area.
Additionally, the council will launch weekly 'Safer Communities Estates' meetings, where feedback from residents and local partners will be used to identify and address community concerns promptly.
Councillor Melissa McGeorge, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, commented:
"We are dedicated to making our communities safer. This new team, along with the investment we've made, will strengthen the recent extension of our Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO). We want both residents and visitors to feel confident that their safety is our priority."
Residents who witness or experience who anti-social behaviour in can report it via the council's website - Report Anti-Social Behaviour - Basildon.
