In the news: Basildon Council resolves Anti-Social Behaviour case through successful mediation

Basildon Council has successfully resolved an anti-social behaviour (ASB) case involving a neighbour dispute at a local sheltered housing scheme through independent mediation.

The council's ASB officers intervened following reports of verbal abuse between two residents, which led to concerns about the effect this would have on other residents in the block.

The team promptly intervened, working closely with both parties to address the issues and seek a positive resolution.

Using structured mediation and open dialogue, a satisfactory agreement was reached between both parties. The outcome has resulted in a more peaceful living environment while reinforcing the Council's commitment to tackling ASB and promoting cohesion within its communities.

Councillor Melisa McGeorge, Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Enforcement, said:  "We are committed to making our communities safer and will continue to work with our partners to reduce crime and any concerns they may have about anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes.

"We have a zero-tolerance policy to such behaviour and on this occasion, I would like to thank the officers for the work they put in to support both residents to achieve a positive outcome."

We encourage anyone who experiences anti-social behaviour in Basildon Borough to report it via the council's website - Report Anti-Social Behaviour - Basildon.
