Properties on a Friday week 1 Waste and Recycling collection incorrectly showing a non-recycling collection due today 19th April 2025.

We are aware of an error impacting Friday week 1 waste collections, which meant some properties showed a non-recycling waste collection due today, 19th April, on Where I Live and the Our Street App, ahead of weekly collections starting from 28th April. This collection was showing in error and the issue which caused this has now been resolved. As per the bi-weekly week 1 waste collection still active, your next collection was due Saturday 26th April, and weekly thereafter. Please therefore take your black wheelie bin back in and represent this on your next collection date. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this error may have caused.

In the news: Connecting South Essex: over 200 businesses unite at thriving expo

Over 200 businesses and 1,000 visitors attended the second South Essex Business Expo which took place today 13 March at The Brentwood Centre.

The event offers a platform for businesses across the region to connect, collaborate, and explore growth opportunities. It is a partnership between all the South Essex councils, Brentwood, Rochford, Southend on Sea, Basildon, Thurrock, Castle Point and Essex County Council along with Global, DS Group and Networking Essex.

Supported by South Essex Council (SEC), The Expo is open to businesses of all sizes, industries, trades, professions and sectors, including start-ups and pre-startups, with exhibitors offering advice, support and opportunities.

Councillor Gavin Callaghan, Leader of Basildon Council and Chair of South Essex Councils was at the event and commented: "When I became Chair of SEC, I said my priority was to work with government to bring money and investment into South Essex, working with the north of Essex to deliver transformative change.

"The Expo was an opportunity to showcase the breadth of business opportunities across our region and aligns with the efforts of SEC to support business growth, encourage investment and enhance regional economic development.

"This is the largest event of its kind in the region, and it was a pleasure to meet and engage with the local business community."

The South Essex Business Expo was sponsored by Total Merchandise and Aqua Interpreting Group.
