In the news: Have your say on the future of Noak Bridge

Residents of Noak Bridge now have the chance to shape the future of their community as the Noak Bridge Neighbourhood Plan Consultation officially launches.

The consultation is open for six weeks, running from midday on 24 February 2025 until midnight on 7 April 2025.

The consultation will be hosted on the council's online consultation platform, Commonplace, where residents can access detailed information about the Noak Bridge Neighbourhood Plan and provide feedback on specific sections: https://noakbridgenp.commonplace.is/

The Neighbourhood Plan has been created by Noak Bridge Parish Council, with input from local residents, to help guide future development in the area. It sets out policies covering key issues that matter to the community, including:

  • Housing - ensuring the right type of homes are built in suitable locations

  • Green Spaces & Environment - protecting and enhancing local parks, wildlife, and green areas

  • Design & Conservation - maintaining the character of Noak Bridge while allowing for sustainable growth

  • Local Economy, Education & Health Services - supporting local businesses and ensuring access to essential services

  • Transport & Roads - improving connectivity, road safety, and access to public transport

Basildon Council is asking residents, businesses, and anyone with an interest in Noak Bridge to review the plan and share their feedback.

Councillor Adele Brown, Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure said: "This is a real opportunity for Noak Bridge residents to help shape the future of their community. The Neighbourhood Plan has been developed with local input, and now it's time for everyone to have their say. By taking part in this consultation, residents can help ensure that future development reflects their needs and priorities, protecting what makes Noak Bridge special while planning for the years ahead.

Neighbourhood planning is about giving local people a stronger voice in decisions that affect them, from housing and green spaces to transport and local services. The more people who get involved, the better the plan will reflect the aspirations of the whole community. I encourage everyone to take a look, share their views, and help shape the place they call home."

Once the consultation closes, an independent examiner will review the plan alongside all the feedback received. If approved, residents will have the final say in a public referendum. If the majority of voters support the plan, it will be officially adopted by Basildon Council and used to help determine future planning applications in Noak Bridge.

The consultation will close at midnight on 7 April 2025.

This is a key opportunity for the Noak Bridge community to influence the future of their area. Have your say and help shape the place you call home!
