Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Call for Sites
The Council has commissioned an updated Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Accommodation Assessment (GTAA), which sets out the need for new pitches / plots from 2024 - 2043. The Council are undertaking work to identify a supply of sites sufficient to meet the accommodation needs identified in the GTAA, for consideration as part of the Local Plan.
As part of this we are now asking landowners and interested parties to put forward land that they think is suitable for this use. Submitting a site is not the same as applying for planning permission, but any sites which are submitted will be assessed for their suitability and facilitate the Council's decision making. Planning permission would still need to be applied for, but if a site is allocated then it has been identified as acceptable for the use in principle.
The call for sites will run for a period of 6 weeks from 9am on Tuesday 5th November 2024 until 5pm on Tuesday 17th December 2024.
How to submit a Site
Sites can be submitted by completing and returning the call for sites proforma available on Commonplace: Have Your Say Today - Basildon Call For Sites - Commonplace. You will need to draw the site boundary using the map selection tool or you can provide a PDF copy of the Land Registry ownership boundary.
Alternatively, you can fill out the following PDF copy of the proforma and submit a map showing where the site is and what land it includes. Please fill out the 'known landowner' form if you are the landowner and 'unknown landowner' if you are not:
Site Submission Proforma - Known Landowner (PDF, 142 KB)
Site Submission Proforma - Unknown Landowner (PDF, 138 KB)
The submissions can be returned by email to planningpolicy@basildon.gov.uk or by post to Planning, Strategy and Implementation, Basildon Borough Council, The Basildon Centre, St. Martins Square, Basildon, SS14 1DL.
