Planning document requests frequently asked questions

Access our e-planning service where you can undertake a search for planning application documents. Use the 'wild card' (*) if you do not have all the information to hand. This will result in no charge.

If you cannot find what you are looking for or are happy to be charged for this service, you can request copies by email. The charge for the service will be given on application.

If you cannot find what you are looking for or the documents are for applications pre 2008, you can request copies by email. The charge for the service will be given on application.

You will need to provide the following information on your request:

  • Application number details, or
  • provide a copy of the Land Charges search with the relevant documents highlighted.

If you are unsure of this, these can be found on the Archive map on the Council's website 

Please note that if the property was built by the former Commission for New Towns, also known as Basildon Development Corporation, you will have to contact Homes England, via  Essex County Council for documents relating to highways or education.


 

Plans submitted with planning applications often do not show drains or foundations.

The Council's Building Control section may have such information.


 

Please request these directly from Essex County Council


 

You must pay the amount advised by the council and use the reference number provided.
