In the news: Nominations open for Basildon Activity Awards 2024

The event will take place on Wednesday 6 November, delivered by Basildon Council and Find Your Active Basildon.

People are invited to nominate an individual, club or group within the borough that have made an important contribution through sport and physical activity this year. The nine categories recognised in this year's awards are:

·       Active Education Provider of the Year

·       Active Employer of the Year

·       Basildon ActivAte Provider of the Year

·       Physical Activity Champion

·       Sports Club of the Year

·       Sports Personality of the Year

·       Strengthening Communities Award

·       Unsung Hero

·       Young Sports Personality of the Year

Councillor Jack Ferguson, Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Community said: "This Summer of Sport we've seen the difference that sport and fitness can have on both our physical and mental health. So many of our residents have taken part in local activities and it has been great to see."

"The Basildon Activity Awards is a brilliant opportunity to honour the individuals and groups who have made an impact throughout the year. I encourage as many people as possible to submit their nominations - whether it's your football coach who has gone above and beyond to support you and your team, or a young individual who has made a significant achievement in their sport."

Nominations are now open and will close on Sunday 29 September 2024.
