In the news: Basildon Council appoint new interim chief executive

At a meeting of Basildon Council's Full Council on Thursday 20 June 2024, Kim Bromley-Derry was appointed as new chief executive of Basildon Council.

Kim Bromley-Derry CBE DL has been appointed interim chief executive of Basildon Council. Kim Bromley-Derry is an experienced public sector executive, having served in senior roles with several local authorities. Previously, Kim served as the Managing Director and lead commissioner for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. More recently, Kim was appointed the best value lead inspector at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 

Kim Bromley-Derry said: "It is a privilege to join Basildon Council in the role of interim chief executive. The council has an exciting programme of regeneration planned and I am looking forward to leading the team through the coming months." 

Owen Sparks, Strategic Director for Resources, has been overseeing the council's operation as interim head of paid service, following the former chief executive's departure.
