Basildon Council has launched its Education Essentials Bursary
Basildon Council has launched a bold new scheme to support young people in the borough in college to stay in education and achieve their dreams. If you're aged 16 to 19, enrolled in college, and your family's on Universal Credit, you could get a one-time payment of £360 to help with your expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Applicant must be 16 to 19
- Education: Enrolled in college or sixth form for at least 18 hours per week
- Travel: Travel more than 2 miles to their place of further education
- Income: Applicant is not receiving any income from the course
- Household: Parent or guardian who you live with must be in receipt of Universal Credit
You will be required to provide the following evidence as part of any application:
- Applicant is required to state their intended use of the bursary
- Proof of ID confirming DOB
- Proof of college course showing hours
- Evidence of parents/guardians in receipt of Universal Credit
- Bank statement to confirm bank details
Fund Allocation
- Each eligible applicant can receive a £360 bursary as a one-time payment. This is only available to a household once per annum.
- A total of 360 people will benefit from this bursary.
- Grants will be disbursed on a first-come, first serve basis until funds are exhausted, successful applicants will be notified by email
- Payments will be made first week of January 2025
