Basildon Council has increased their Council Tax precept by 2.98%
The image below shows a sample Council Tax bill which will help answer any questions you have about understanding what is shown on your bill. Each numbered red ball on the bill corresponds with a numbered note that explains what is shown on that part of the Bill.
Depending on the size of the screen on your device the explanatory notes will either be shown to the left-hand side of the Bill (larger screens) or underneath the Bill (smaller screens and mobile phones).
- Your Council Tax account reference number - you need this number to make payment and when you contact us.

- A breakdown of your Council Tax - The total Council Tax charge is split between (
a) Essex County Council (including Adult Social Care), (
b) The Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner for Essex, (
c) Basildon Council, (
d) Essex PFCC Fire and Rescue Authority and (
e) your Parish Council where one exists.
- The percentage increase (+) or decrease (-) in the amount due compared to last year's charge, for each part if the charge.

- The percentage increase (+) or decrease (-) in the total amount due compared to last year's charge (rounded to 1 decimal place).
- Any discounts, exemptions or reductions in the total charge due are shown here.
- The total amount of Council Tax to be paid for the financial year.
- If your payment method is Manual Payment you can use this barcode to identify your account when making a payment.
- Your Council Tax payment plan shows the dates when payments are due and the amounts to be paid.
