Grass and hedge trimming services across the Borough are provided by IDVerde, working in partnership with Basildon Council.
Amenity grass will be cut every 20 working days from April to the end of October. This new cutting regime hopes to bring environmental benefits, for example; increase the time common turf weed like daisies, clover and plantain are in flower which will be beneficial to the pollinating insects; along with bringing more colour to the borough; less cuts also mean less fuel therefore pollutants from the machinery used to cut the grass.
Basildon Council increased it's relaxed grass cutting across grass verges and roundabouts by 20,000m² during 2020/21, and will increase it by a further 32,000m² this summer. This is to increase pollination across the borough and allow wildflowers to thrive.
