Billericay Conservation Area Shop Front and Design Guide SPD
On Thursday 13 August 2015 Basildon Borough Council formally adopted the Billericay Conservation Area Shop Front and Design Guide as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The SPD is now a material consideration in the determination of relevant planning and consent applications within the Billericay Conservation Area.
The purpose of the SPD is to maintain and enhance the special architectural and historical qualities of the Conservation Area by providing advice and design guidance to residents, property owners, landlords and tenants on shop fronts, advertisements and alterations to buildings within the Conservation Area, though its principles may be appropriate to other parts of the Basildon Borough.
The Billericay Conservation Area Shop Front and Design Guide SPD has been developed by Basildon Borough Council and Billericay Town Council.
In addition to the adopted Billericay Conservation Area Shop Front and Design Guide SPD, Basildon Borough Council has published an Adoption Statement and Consultation Statement in accordance with The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 and a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Screening Determination in accordance with The Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004.
The Billericay Conservation Area Shop Front and Design Guide SPD was subject to an SEA Screening Determination to assess whether it would likely result in significant environmental effects. The findings of the Screening Determination concluded that this was not likely and therefore SEA of the SPD was not required.
