The Alf Dove Award

Basildon Mayor's Badge of Office
When former Councillor Alf Dove retired in 1999 after 43 years as a Councillor, the Council resolved to establish the Alf Dove Award to mark his unique service to the community. This award seeks to recognise significant contributions made by individuals to the well being of the local community.

The Alf Dove Award may be presented to a member of the local community to recognise and mark the significant community service they have given to the Borough.

Written nominations for this award are sought from all Members of the council in June each year.  The council's Group Leaders together consider the nominations and decide which nominee, if any, will receive the award for that year. The Mayor of Basildon will present the successful nominee with their award.

Sadly, Alf Dove died in December 2014.
