In the news: Basildon Borough's Future in Focus as Local Plan Consultation Part 2 Launches
The Regulation 18 Consultation Part 2 provides residents with a further opportunity to review and comment on additional key policies within the Draft Local Plan, which will guide development across the borough for the next two
Following strong participation in Part 1, the council is encouraging residents to stay engaged and have their say on this next phase.
The consultation is being hosted on the council's online consultation platform, Commonplace, where residents can access detailed information about the Local Plan and provide feedback on specific sections:

The consultation covers vital areas such as affordable housing, healthy communities and the development of Basildon Town Centre, policies that will shape the borough's growth. Residents are encouraged to contribute their views on key decisions, including where new housing should be located and how Basildon should address environmental challenges.
Councillor Adele Brown, Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure said: "This is a Local Plan shaped by local people. We listened carefully to the feedback from Part 1, and now we are delivering on our promise to ensure the policies in Part 2 reflect the needs and priorities of Basildon's communities. Unlike the failed plans of the past, this approach is rooted in fairness, sustainability, and protecting what matters most to our residents.
"We are taking full advantage of changes in national planning policy to ensure we get the right homes in the right places, prioritising brownfield sites, strengthening infrastructure, and protecting our valued green spaces.
"Part 2 is about the detail - the policies that will drive regeneration, deliver affordable housing, improve our town centres, and safeguard the environment for future generations. This is a chance for every resident and business to have their say on how we build a better, fairer, and more sustainable Basildon. The success of this plan depends on the voices of our communities. We saw incredible engagement in Part 1, and I urge residents to get involved again. This is our borough's future - let's shape it together."
Basildon Council remains committed to engaging the local community in discussions about the borough's future. Residents are urged to participate in this important consultation to help shape policies that will impact the borough for years to come.
