Tackling re-offending though Integrated Offender Management
The Safer Basildon Partnership works closely with the National Probation Service to reduce reoffending.
The Integrated Offender Management (IOM) is a multi-agency approach to offender management where partners such as probation, police, health, and drug and alcohol services work together to manage identified prolific offenders to address the causes of offending and reduce the threat of crime in local communities.
Regular meetings take place to manage a cohort of offenders and appropriate support and enforcement action is agreed and undertaken.
The National Probation Service is represented in partnership meetings, particularly concerning anti-social behaviour and gang and drug related crime in order to share information on individuals, and to determine the appropriate options to manage and reduce reoffending.
The robust management of offenders include imposing bail conditions, curfews and electronic tags to help reduce crime.
We are also working together to identify opportunities for unpaid work to be undertaken in the borough, which will include cutting back trees and bushes, contributing to improved feelings of safety.
Below are some of the other ways we will achieve this:

Use all tools and powers available to effectively monitor and enforce breaches where appropriate
