Book a bulky waste or large item collection
The bulky waste collection service offers residents of Basildon Borough a low cost way to book for the removal of large and bulky household items. This is a non-refundable service.
- Cost of the service: £30 for the collection of 1-5 items
The charges stated apply from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Have you considered reuse schemes?
If you are looking to dispose of furniture such as a sofa, can it be reused by someone else? If it is in good condition (not damaged in any way, torn or badly stained) and with the fire retardancy label still attached (see below), please consider offering them to The Lighthouse Furniture Project ltd for reuse. They may even collect it from you for free!
Items we will not collect
- anything not specified in your booking
- anything that is not visible or where you said it would be
- anything presented incorrectly
- anything that is too heavy for two people to lift (for example, cast iron baths, pianos)
- Fixtures and fittings
- Bathroom suites
- Central heating systems.
- Fitted kitchens
- Internal and external doors
- Paint
- car batteries
- mirrors, glass, and double-glazing units
- tiles
- tree stumps or trunks
- wooden fence panels over 5' x 6'
- gas cylinders
- oil
- tyres
- hazardous waste (asbestos or corrosive, flammable, explosive or toxic substances)
- commercial waste
- clinical waste
- construction/builders waste (e.g. broken tiles, plasterboard, rubble, earth, and soil)
- garden waste
- any items that are waterlogged such as sofas or mattresses (items for collection must be covered if put out for collection in wet conditions)
