CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Basildon Council service and information updates
Latest national COVID-19 restrictions announced on Monday 4 January 2021; Coronavirus cases are rising rapidly across the country. To reduce the spread of the virus, the whole of England has entered a national lockdown with immediate effect. Restrictions will be put into law later this week.
Basildon is set to become home to Essex's first OnSide Youth Zone, after the council's Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces committee gave the exciting project the green light last night (Wednesday 25 November).
After a unanimous vote in its favour by councillors at last night's Housing and Communities Committee, the council are to donate the remaining £10,500 from the Together for Safer Communities 2020/21 budget to foodbanks across the borough.
There is still time for groups providing mental health services in Basildon to apply for grants of up to £5000, with the application period closing on Friday 27 November.
Basildon Council has teamed up with Basildon wellbeing provider Motivated Minds, to support residents who are struggling in the lead up to what quite possibly will be a very different Christmas this year, by asking 'Are you ok?'
A project to resurface the athletics track at Basildon Sporting Village, providing a modern, high performance running track for the borough, has been completed successfully.
