Councillors have agreed to grant money for the Wickford Christmas lights.

The Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee met on 25 September to go through proposals for a number of initiatives to help support communities. One of them being the Wickford Christmas lights and have agreed to grant £10,000 out of the £163,000 allocated for several other projects.

Wickford Christmas lights was one of the priorities in the Borough following the Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee on 3 July 2019.

The other priorities include:

◦Town Centre Working Groups
◦Enforcement cameras to reduce flytipping in hotspots across the borough
◦A new gate for the Paddocks Community Hall car park to reduce anti-social behaviour
◦Additional waste bins in areas of need around the borough.

Chairman of the Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee Councillor David Harrison said: "We are pleased to be able to make this funding available across the borough - all will bring benefits to the community"
