This is to assist young people in making positive and well informed choices from an early age.
Crucial Crew is an innovative and interactive way of delivering personal and safety education messages to Year 6 children (10/11 year olds) to support their transition to secondary school.
In recent years the project has been adapted to equip young people with the tools and skills they need to identify and recognise what a healthy relationships looks like and understand the risks associated with being involved in gang related activity and how to spot the signs of grooming.
Crucial Crew has taken place in the Borough for a number of years and will be running again over a 10 week period throughout January, February and March 2020. It is hoped that it will be delivered to over 1,200 young people across the Borough and provide them with these important messages as they make their transition into secondary school.
Walk Online is commissioned to raise awareness to young people about the potential dangers they face when using the Internet. The roadshows aim to highlight issues that young people are not aware of, including how easily they can be exploited through well-known online games and apps.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have delivered a number of Firebreak Workshops to young people across the Basildon Borough.
