Direct Debit

Creature Comforts - Direct Debit campaign for Business Rates

Business Rates payment by Direct Debit gives you:

  • A choice either a single annual, two half yearly, 10 monthly or 12 monthly Direct Debit instalments
  • A choice of five dates for monthly instalments - choose to pay on the 1st, 6th, 14th, 22nd or 28th of each month.
  • Control - you can cancel the Direct Debit instruction at any time.

Please note: We can only set up a Direct Debit over the phone for a business in the name of a sole proprietor. Limited companies and others such as a PLC or NGO must set up their Direct Debit online, or by completing and returning our downloadable application form.

Online Payment

Online Business Rates payments can be made using a Debit or Credit card.

There is no surcharge for Debit or Credit Card payments.

You will be asked for your Business rates Account Number which you will find on your Business Rates Bill, (starts '17').

Online payments made on weekdays will be posted to your Business Rates account within 24 hours. Online payments made on Friday evenings, weekends and bank holidays will take longer.

Telephone payments can be made using a Debit or Credit card.

There is no surcharge for Debit or Credit Card payments.

You will be asked for your Business Rate Account number which you can find on your Business Rates Bill, (starts '17').

Telephone payments made on weekdays will be posted to your Business Rates account within 24 hours. Online payments made on Friday evenings, weekends and bank holidays will take longer.

Cash or Card Payment

Make a Business Rates payment at the Basildon Centre

Pay your Business Rates using one of our self service automated payment machines in the Basildon Centre Reception area.

Our self service automated payment machines accept cash or a Debit or Credit card.

There is no surcharge for Debit or Credit Card payments.

The automated payment machine will ask for your Business Rates Account Number which you will find on your Business Rates Bill, (starts '17').

BACs Transfer

You can set up a BACS Transfer arrangement with your bank to pay your Business Rates.

To set up a BACs Transfer you will need Basildon Council's bank details, which are as follows:

  • Lloyd TSB Bank
  • Sort Code: 30-80-12
  • Account number: 18317060
  • Account name: Basildon Council

As a part of the BACs Transfer set-up process, you will be asked to provide your Business rates Account Number which you will find on your Business Rates Bill, (starts '17'). 

Please note: When setting up a BACs Transfer be sure to check the time it takes to transfer money by BACS with your bank. You must ensure payments will be received by the date specified on the Business Rates Bill, in order to avoid recovery action being taken against you.
