Business Rates - Fraud Reporting And Investigation
Business Rates Fraud is not a victimless crime. People who make false applications for reductions, exemptions and reliefs are taking money from honest taxpayers.
Basildon Council has a responsibility to stop fraud from happening and to catch people who make false claims. To do this, we need your help.
Report Business Rates Fraud
If you suspect someone you know of making a false application for Business Rate reductions, exemptions and/or reliefs please let the Business Rates Office know by contacting us in any of the following ways:

- In writing to: Business Rates, PO Box 4, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1BY.
You can remain completely anonymous if you wish but any details you do provide will remain strictly confidential.
Please give us as much information as possible - the more information you can give, the better we will be able to investigate.
What happens next?
Once a suspected fraud is reported to us, we will use the information you provide as part of a detailed investigation.
If there is evidence of fraud taking place, we will take the appropriate action.
