Alongside Basildon Council services, the vibrant new space - known as the Community Hub - will offer services from:
- The Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) Jobcentre Plus and Universal Credit
- Citizens Advice Bureau
- Registrars for births, ceremonies and deaths
- Basildon Library
Our partnership with the The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will be the largest of its kind between the DWP and a borough council.
By bringing services together and working alongside partner organisations, residents will benefit from a much more enhanced, efficient and joined-up customer service experience. Sharing space will also help keep Basildon Council's costs down, meaning savings for the borough.
The Community Hub will also feature a new self-service area where residents can pay bills, look for jobs, complete online applications and access help with job search.
Update on the ground floor building works
The DWP Zone of the Community Hub is complete and residents can now access services from the DWP, Jobcentre Plus and Universal Credit.
The second phase of works will now begin and will include the removal of the library wall and doors, the construction of new space for Citizens Advice Bureau and the partial decoration of the front of the reception area.
Citizens Advice Bureau have moved to near the front entrance inside the library to accommodate the work to the library wall. Once works are complete CAB will be relocated to their final permanent location on the ground floor.
Once phase two of the building works is finished, the final phase will start on the remaining area of the ground floor front. This will be completed before Christmas.
There may be some disruption during works, but services will continue to be provided. The public will still be able to access the DWP (Job Centre Plus and Universal Credit) and the usual range of Council services via the front doors of the building.
