Business Rates - Ways To Pay

There are a number of ways to pay your Business Rates bill. Direct Debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay your Business Rates

When you register to pay NNDR Business Rates, you can choose one the following payment instalment options:

  • A single annual payment in May
  • Twice yearly instalments in April and October
  • 10 monthly instalments from April to January
  • 12 monthly instalments from April to March.

Dates when payments are due will be shown on your NNDR business rates bill.  You must ensure payments are received by the date specified to avoid recovery action being taken.

Pay by Direct Debit

Choose from the following  Direct Debit payment plans:

Single annual payment options

  • A single annual Direct Debit payment taken on the 6th May
  • A single annual Direct Debit payment taken on the 22nd May

Two half yearly payment options

  • Two half yearly Direct Debit payments taken on the 6th May and 6th October
  • Two half yearly Direct Debit payments taken on the 22nd May and 22nd October

10 monthly payment options

  • 10 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 6th of each month (April - January)
  • 10 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 14th of each month (April - January)
  • 10 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 22nd of each month (April - January)
  • 10 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 28th of each month (April - January)

12 monthly payment options

  • 12 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 6th of each month (April - March)
  • 12 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 14th of each month (April - March)
  • 12 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 22nd of each month (April - March)
  • 12 monthly Direct Debit payments taken on the 28th of each month (April - March)

To set up a Direct Debit

To change your Direct Debit number of instalments and/or payment date

  • To change a Business Rates Direct Debit payment plan please phone 01268 533333.

To cancel a Direct Debit

  • To cancel a Business Rates Direct Debit instruction at any time you should contact your bank directly.

Pay online

You can pay online with a credit or debit card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You will be asked for your Business Rates account number which you will find on your Business Rates bill.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware...

  • There is a 1.5% surcharge for all credit card transactions
  • There is no surcharge for debit card transactions

Online payments made on weekdays will be posted to your Business Rates account within 24 hours.  Online payments made on Friday evenings, weekends and bank holidays will take longer.

Pay your Business Rates by phone

You can pay by telephone with a credit or debit card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You will be asked for your Business Rates account number which you will find on your Business Rates bill.

  • There is no surcharge for debit card transactions

Telephone payments made on weekdays will be posted to your Business Rates account within 24 hours.  Online payments made on Friday evenings, weekends and bank holidays will take longer.

Pay by BACS and Standing Order

You can pay your Business Rates by setting up a Standing Order with your bank to pay by BACS into our account.

You must always quote your ten digit Business Rates account number, which is shown on your bill.

Please check with your bank about the time it takes to transfer money by BACS to make sure we receive payment for the correct amount on or before the due date.

Pay your Business Rates by cash or card

You can pay your Business Rates with cash or a credit or debit card at our town centre offices in the Basildon Centre or at any Post Office or Paypoint outlet.

You can pay your Business Rates using one of our self service automated payment machines in the Basildon Centre Reception area.

Our self service automated payment machines accept cash or a Debit or Credit card.

The automated payment machine will ask for your Business Rates account number which you will find on your Business Rates bill.
